STRIDES: Success Through Resiliency, Interventions, Development, and Effective Support
The goal of STRIDES is to provide mental health support for LCS students to help them make STRIDES towards well-being. The partnership between LCS and the FSU Counseling Psychology and School Psychology PhD program began in Fall 2023 and is directed by Dr. Lyndsay Jenkins.
During the 2024-2025 academic year, STRIDES is working at Godby High School, Chiles High School, RAA Middle School, Cobb Middle School, Deerlake Middle School, and Canopy Oaks Elementary School.
Lyndsay Jenkins
Hello! My name is Dr. Lyndsay Jenkins. I am the Director of Seminoles ASPIRE. I am the Michael and Jean Shahnasarian Endowed Professor at FSU in Counseling and School Psychology and a Licensed Psychologist in Florida. My family and I have lived in Tallahassee for eight years and we have children that attend Leon County Schools. In our free time, we enjoy fishing and going to the beach. As the Director of STRIDES, I oversee and supervise the graduate clinicians who provide individual and group counseling to LCS students.

Hello! My name is Maria, and I am a 4th year student in the Combined Counseling and School Psychology PhD program at FSU. I moved to Tallahassee 3 years ago after completing my undergraduate degree at Boston College and I am enjoying the warm weather. I am looking forward to working with the students!
Nick Reese
My name is Nicholas Reese and I am a 4th Year Ph.D. Student in the Counseling Psychology & School Psychology Program at Florida State University. I am originally from Atlanta, Georgia. I have lived many places such as Michigan and Louisiana but I am happy to be in the state of Florida now. I enjoy working with students with a large breadth of concerns. I look forward to working with the students of Godby. In my free time I enjoy playing Fortnite, reading, fitness, and spending time with my family, friends, and pet cat. I look forward to potentially working with your student!
Miranda Bradley
Hi! My name is Miranda Bradley, and I am in my fourth year in the Combined School Psychology and Counseling Psychology Ph.D. program at Florida State University. I am originally from Tampa, FL, and received my undergraduate degree in psychology at the University of Florida in 2021. I have experience working with various clinical concerns such as anxiety, depression, self-esteem, crisis management, ADHD, ASD, and more. My research interests are primarily focused on prevention and intervention, bullying, and perfectionism in youth populations. In my free time I enjoy reading, playing pickleball, and spending time with friends and family (and my pup Winnie!).
Trish Powell
My name is Trish (Dunn) Powell. I am a native Floridian, originally from Pinellas County, Florida. Currently, I am currently enrolled as a student in Florida State University's Counseling Psychology & School Psychology Combined PhD program. My primary research interests include psychometrics & assessment, and math achievement in elementary and middle school level students. Prior experience in counseling includes ADHD coaching, individual therapy, and study skills training. This semester I am most looking forward to serving the students and future leaders of Leon County. For fun, I enjoy playing with my two dogs and cat, as well as spending time with my family.
Theo Meros
Theo Meros, M.S. is a third-year doctoral student. A Tallahassee native and former structural engineer, Theo earned his M.S. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Florida State University in 2022. His clinical interests focus on working with patients with severe mental illness; in particular, Theo hopes to serve the formerly incarcerated population. His research interests aim to understand the unique experiences of persons with physical disabilities. In his free time, Theo enjoys spending time outdoors and playing music with his daughter (Bailey), as well as reading, watching movies, and working out.
Olivia Eto
My name is Olivia Eto. I’m a second year PhD student in the Combined Counseling and School Psychology program at FSU. I received my master’s and education specialist degree in Mental Health Counseling at FSU in 2021. I am looking forward to working at Florida High as it is a special place for me. I completed my thirteen years of schooling at Florida High and currently reside in Southwood. I enjoy working with children and have an interest in neurodevelopmental disabilities. I previously worked with children and adolescents conducting clinical assessments and held counseling sessions for children with autism spectrum disorder. My research interests include therapeutic intervention and assessments for children and adolescents with neurodevelopmental disabilities. In my free time, I enjoy crafting, playing piano, and running. Go Noles!
