The dynamic and vibrant sport industry presents a wide range of opportunities for individuals that seek a sport-related career. For those who are interested in professional sports, college or high school sports, working with elite amateur athletes, managing sport in community programs, working in the corporate sector, sport for development, or other settings, acquiring the proper knowledge and developing the critical skills and abilities is essential.
The Department of Sport Management at Florida State University will prepare you to work in the diverse sport industry, related service organizations, and academic institutions. Completing a Sport Management degree from FSU at your level of interest will better position you to take their place in the world of sport.
Our mission is to be an international leader in the education and development of students and the creation and dissemination of knowledge in the broadly defined sport industry. We are committed to excellence in all aspects of research, teaching and service to the sport community.
The department’s three degree programs – doctoral, master's, and bachelor's – are based on four thematic pillar areas, which also provide the broad context from which our research and course offerings are derived:
- Legal & Policy Issues in Sport
- Sport Economics/Finance
- Sport Marketing
- Sport Media & Culture Studies
At each program level, the four pillars provide the basis for coursework and at the graduate level the basis for research activity.
