Assessment, Learning Evaluation, & Counseling Center (ALEC)

The Assessment, Learning Evaluation, & Counseling (ALEC) Center provides psychoeducational evaluations for college students, adolescents aged 16 and older, and other adults who may be experiencing difficulties due to a learning disorder (LD), attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), intellectual disability (ID), and other mental health difficulties (e.g., depression, anxiety, bipolar, autism, etc.) that may negatively affect one’s academic, vocational, or interpersonal functioning.

ALEC also provides in-person and online ADHD coaching services to help individuals achieve their goals by developing skills and strategies to compensate for areas of functioning affected by ADHD or poorly developed study skills.

Additionally, we offer individual, couple, and family counseling to students, adolescents (ages 12+), and adults in the Tallahassee community. Our practitioners can help you enhance your psychological well-being, achieve personal growth, and overcome inner turmoil in a supportive and confidential environment. The center offers support and treatment for a wide range of emotional, psychological, interpersonal, and behavioral issues; common issues addressed at ALEC include depression, anxiety, stress management, motivation, self–esteem, anger management, conflict management, relationship issues, and adjusting to changes/challenges.

Counseling is offered year-round, and appointment days and times vary between semesters. Counseling sessions occur once per week for 50 minutes.
