Emilie N. Miley, Ph.D., D.A.T, ATC,  is a research faculty in the Department of Health, Nutrition & Food Sciences at Florida State University. Dr. Miley serves as the Assistant Director of Orthopedics and Sports Medicine Research for the Institute of Sports Sciences and Medicine. In addition, she serves as the research scientist for the Tallahassee Orthopedic Clinic.

Dr. Miley’s research foci are within the orthopaedic and sports medicine field. Her areas of interest include the psychometric evaluation of patient-reported outcomes (PROs), survey/instrument development and validation, interventions for injury prevention, and manual therapy interventions for musculoskeletal pathology. Dr. Miley research also focuses on leveraging large data to facilitate better understanding of PROs and how clinicians can better leverage data to help inform clinical decision-making and improve patient-centered care.

Prior to joining the faculty at Florida State University, Dr. Miley worked as a clinical research coordinator in the Arthroplasty Division at the Orthopaedic Sports Medicine Institute and a co-instructor in the Doctor of Athletic Training Program at the University of Florida. Additionally, she previously served as an assistant professor in the Master of Athletic Training Program at Charleston Southern University, postdoctoral fellow in the Master of Science in Athletic Training Program at the University of Idaho, and served as the clinical education coordinator and instructor in the undergraduate Athletic Training Program at Erskine College. Dr. Miley earned her Ph.D. in Education (focus in Movement Sciences) and Doctor of Athletic Training from the University of Idaho, and a Master of Science and Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training from Indiana State University.
