Dr. Marks is an Assistant Professor in the APA-accredited Combined Counseling and School Psychology doctoral program. She received her Bachelor of Science in Psychology, as well as her Master of Arts in Education and Education Specialist in School Counseling from the University of Florida. She received her Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from Purdue University after completing her pre-doctoral internship at Arizona State University Counseling Services. She spent four years as an Assistant Professor in the Counseling Psychology program at the University of Memphis before beginning her position at Florida State University.

Dr. Marks is the director of the Global Research On Working To ameliorate Health disparities (G.R.O.W.T.H.) Research Lab. She has published in journals such as The Career Development Quarterly, Training and Education in Professional Psychology, Journal of Multicultural Counseling and Development, and The Counseling Psychologist. Her program of research is focused on the influence of overt discrimination and microaggressions on mental health, health behaviors, and career development in marginalized groups. Dr. Marks is on the editorial board for The Counseling PsychologistJournal of Career Assessment, and Journal of Career Development. She has received grant funding from the American Psychological Foundation. She is currently a member of the American Psychological Association (APA) and Divisions 17, 45, and 52.
