Abria J. Harris, Ed.D., is a highly skilled educator and leader with over a decade of experience in mathematics education, curriculum development, and teacher mentorship. He currently serves as a Teaching Faculty member at Florida State University with the FSU-Teach program, where he plays a pivotal role in preparing future STEM educators. Dr. Harris earned his Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership from Nova Southeastern University, with a focus on improving teacher recruitment and retention in rural school districts. His academic journey also includes a Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction with an emphasis on Secondary Education from Grand Canyon University, and a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics and Mathematics Teaching from Florida State University. Throughout his career, he has demonstrated a commitment to enhancing educational outcomes in both K-12 and higher education settings, using innovative approaches like project-based learning and productive math talk.

In addition to his teaching and academic leadership roles, Dr. Harris has made significant contributions to professional organizations, serving as President of the UTeach STEM Educators Association and previously as Vice-President. He co-chaired the USEA Equity and Racial Justice Committee, working to advance equity in STEM education at both national and local levels. Dr. Harris is a sought-after speaker and presenter, delivering keynote addresses and workshops on topics such as advancing equity in STEM and student motivation. His work has earned him numerous accolades, including the Trailblazer Award from the FSU College of Education and recognition as Gadsden County Person of the Year by the National Hookup of Black Women. With a passion for fostering inclusive learning environments and improving education in underserved communities, Dr. Harris continues to make a lasting impact in the field of education.
